"You can't lead people if you don't love people. You can't save people if you don't serve them." - Cornel West
"If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and deprecate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground, they want rain without thunder and lightning." -Frederick Douglass
"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." - Benjamin Franklin
"Tragedy is a tool for the living to gain wisdom, not a guide by which to live"- Robert Kennedy
"Lord make me an instrument of Thy PEACE. Where there is hatred, let me sow LOVE. Where there is injury, PARDON. Where there is error, TRUTH. Where there is discord, HARMONY. Where there is doubt, FAITH. Where there is despair, HOPE. Where there is darkness, LIGHT. Where there is sorrow, JOY." - The Prayer of St. Francis
"Equality is not in regarding different things similarly, equality is in regarding different things differently."
-Tom Robbins
Machine Quilting Made Easy by Maurine Noble- This is a beginner book and I love it. There is a lot of basic info that I need. I am a self-taught sewer (I don't like the word "seamstress") and having books to reference helps. There are tutorials and some great pictures/diagrams. I am using this book to get myself psyched to actually quilt my own instead of sending them out to get them quilted for big $$.
The Other Boelyn Girl by Phillipa Gregory - I am enthralled by these books. I realize they are historical FICTION but I love them and the basic premise is based in history, right? Old bastard king keeps switching out wives like socks, makes laws just to meet his carnal needs...
Anything by Augusten Burroughs- I think Augusten Burroughs is absolutely HILARIOUS! I have simultaneously laughed and cried while reading his books. I honor him for sharing with us all.
Harry Potter books!- I know they are over but I am still a huge fan. I think JK Rowling has done more for reading than just about any author during my lifetime. I appreciate her senses of justice, friendship and humor. I can read all of these books over and over again. And I have!
